E’ stata una delle sorprese della Jupiler League. Grinta, quantità, qualità al servizio del Lokeren. Avete imparato a conoscerlo insieme a noi (nella scheda di Giovanni De Montis @giodemontis), Alexander Scholz si racconta a football-magazine.it. Tra passato, presente e speranze future.
Quest’anno la tua e’ stata una stagione esaltante, valorizzata dalla conquista della coppa di Belgio in cui hai segnato il gol decisivo raccontaci come e’ iniziata e come sei riuscito a crescere così durante l’anno?
E’ vero, la nostra stagione e stata un successo. Nel calcio si migliora solo quando si ha fiducia e questa stagione ne ho avuta molta sia a livello individuale che collettivo. Abbiamo giocato tutta la stagione su buoni livelli e questo alla fine ci ha permesso di raggiungere gli obiettivi che ci eravamo posti all’inizio del campionato sia come singoli che come squadra. Da difensore credo che la chiave per il successo riuscire mantenere costanza nelle proprie prestazioni cercando di commettere il meno errori possibili. Sono rimaste 4 partite di campionato ma guardandomi alle spalle credo di aver fatto più di quanto potessi immaginare ad inizio stagione. Il gol decisivo in finale e stato la ciliegina sulla torta!! Da difensore non capita tutti i giorni di segnare gol decisivi. E stato un momento davvero speciale!!
Quali sono le tue caratteristiche principali? Descriviti come giocatore…
Io amo difendere, mentre gli attaccanti hanno piacere a fare dribbling io mi diverto con tackle decisi, salvataggi sulla linea o nel mettere gli avversari in fuorigioco. Oltre ad assicurarmi che gli avversari non segnino, mi piace partecipare alla costruzione del gioco.
A quale calciatori ti ispiri?
Mi sono sempre ispirato a difensori centrali come Carles Puyol of Fabio Cannavaro. Li ammiro per la loro capacita di anticipare gli attaccanti su ogni palla. Sono stato molto felice quando “il muro di Berlino” Cannavaro ha vinto il pallone d’oro nel 2006, in quanto quasi mai si assegna questo premio ad un difensore. Lui se lo e davvero meritato.
Il campionato Belga e spesso il trampolino di lancio verso altre competizioni, quali sono le tue ambizioni per il futuro e in quale campionato ti piacerebbe giocare?
E vero quello Belga ha già dimostrato di essere un campionato in grado di sfornare talenti che poi hanno fatto bene anche in campionati più blasonati, e mi auguro che sara cosi anche per me. Per il momento sono concentrato sul fare bene qui. Avendo origini tedesche da piccolo seguivo soprattutto la Bundesliga e il Bayern Monaco e da sempre la mia squadra preferita.
Segui la serie A? Hai mai avuto la possibilita di venire a giocare in Italia?
Il mio migliore amico era, ed e tutt’oggi, tifosissimo del Milan ragion per cui guardavo spesso anche la serie A. Anche se al mio amico non l’ho mai ammesso mi sono sempre piaciuti Maldini e Nesta. La tattica di gioco italiana sia a livello di campionato che di squadra nazionale rimane probabilmente la migliore al mondo. Sono stato diverse volte in vacanza in Italia e non vedo l’ora di potervi tornare.
In quale club sogni di giocare?
Si il Bayern Monaco.
Fuori dal calcio sei una persona piena di interessi che studia filosofia ed è appassionato di letteratura…. Puoi parlarci di queste tue passioni?
E vero qui a Lokeren molti sanno della mia passione per la letteratura. Leggere mi permette di astrarmi dal calcio, di rilassarmi dopo gli allenamenti e di darmi qualche idea su cosa fare dopo il calcio. La lettura si addice alla mia personalità, credo che la gente mi consideri un ragazzo solido in campo ma tranquillo al di fuori. Viaggiare e un altra mia grande passione e giocare lontano dalla Danimarca mi da la possibilità di visitare molti posti nuovi

Your season has been amazing and on the top of it you scored the decisive goal during the Belgium Cup Final. Could you tell us a little bit more about how you improved during the last year?
It is true that our season has been a great success. You develop as you get confidence, and that has been the case both for the team and for me personally. We’ve been playing the whole season on a high level, and we’ve lived up to the ambitions we set out for ourselves before the start of the season. The same goes for my own ambitions. One of the keys for success as a defender, is playing on a constant high level, making few mistakes and letting that consistency shine through in all games. Now there’s still 4 games left, but looking back a bit I would say I’ve lived up to my own ambition. The goal in the final of the cup was of course the highlight! Being a defender, the feeling of scoring in such an important game, is not something you come across very often. It was very special.
What are your main skills? Try to describe yourself as a player
My mentality is that of a defender. I love to defend. Whereas offensive players get their “kick” from nice dribbles or the like, I get pleasure from solid tackles, goal-saving stops, or well-created offside traps. Besides from making sure the other team doesn’t score, I like to take part in the building up with the ball. Passing is one of my strengths as well.
Who is the player you take inspiration from?
I’ve always taken inspiration from central defenders, like Carlos Puyol and Fabio Cannavaro. I admired them for their positioning and ability for anticipate on almost every ball played at the strikers. I was happy, when “Muro di Berlino” won the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2006, because they almost never give it to defenders. He deserved it.
The Belgian Jupiler League is frequently a starting point to obtain success in Europe. What are your ambitions for the future and where (in which league) would you like to play?
Belgium has proved to be a great step to better leagues for many players, and I hope it will be the case for me as well. For the moment my focus is entirely on my performances in Belgium, but for sure there’s moments where one dreams of more – as it is for all footballers. Growing up with a german background, I’ve always had strong ties to the Bundesliga.
Do you have a club your dream to play for one day?
Bayern Munich has always been my favorite team.
Do you usually follow the Italian Serie A? Have you ever considered or have you ever had the opportunity to be transfered in Italy?
My best friend was (and is) a huge AC Milan fan, which meant that I had the influence of Italian football as well. I would never admit it to him, but watching Maldini and Nesta play was very enjoyable to me. Their tactical game, and in general the tactics of both the Serie A and the Italian national team, is probably the highest in the world. Spending more than one vacation in Italy has left me with great interest in the country as well.
In Lokeren you are well known for being passionate by literature. Could you tell us a little bit more about your passions outside the pitch?
It is true that I’m known for my passion of literature in Lokeren. I use it as an abstraction from football, to relax after training and to give me some inputs from a world, where football plays no part. Its suits my personality well, as most people will characterize me as a rather calm and solid guy. Traveling is another great passion outside the pitch. Playing football outside of Denmark is a fantastic way to get around and see parts of the whole.
